Pandering

Pandering, also known as soliciting or pimping, is the act of obtaining or trying to obtain customers for a prostitute. It can include running a prostitution business, recruiting (by force or persuasion) people to be prostitutes, the exchange of money for a prostitute, agreeing to accept money for the sexual act of a prostitute, and even attempting to procure customers for a prostitute, whether that attempt was successful or not.

In California, pandering is a felony which may carry a state prison sentence of 3, 4, or 6 years as well as mandatory registration as a sex offender. When it involves a minor under the age of 16, a pandering sentence may include a state prison sentence of up to 8 years, a fine of up to $15,000 and mandatory registration as a sex offender.
